DID YOU KNOW? Port Coquitlam’s oldest house, the George Black House, was built in 1889! That’s a full 24 years before Port Coquitlam was incorporated as a city. George Black paid $167 in 1879 for the property on which the house was built at the corner of Mary Hill and Pitt River Road. The home was slowly modernized and restored over the years…including the addition of a gas furnace in 1957. Prior to that, the house had been heated by three wood-burning stoves.

Dinakis Mediterranean Grill:  Dinskis Mediterranean Grill challenges other local businesses to get involved in welcoming Syrian refugees to the area.

About 150 people gathered at Eagle Ridge United Church on April 5, to welcome some of the recently arrived Syrian families.  Dinakis Mediterranean Grill donated all the delicious Greek food for the event which was also a fundraiser for Humanity 4 Syrians, with guests making a donation towards the next refugee family the group is planning to bring to Canada. We together raised $3000, excellent work done everyone!
